Dr. Maryssa’s integrative approach is an embodied and unique synthesis of developmental movement re-patterning, informed by her ongoing multi-year study of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)®; somatically skilled and effective physical therapy and manual therapy modalities; and attunement cultivated through her own fifteen-year daily movement practice of presence and witnessing, sourced from over three decades of practice with Bay Area dance, Feldenkrais®, and Body-Mind Centering®.
Body-Mind Centering® is deeply informed by embryological re-membering and early developmental patterns of easeful movement, cellular consciousness, sensory experience, perception and responses. Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization® draws upon neurological patterns of postural support from early development, applying them to restore efficient movement and function in areas including sports performance and pelvic health physiotherapy. Together, these practices inform how she listens, embodies touch, responds, assesses and develops a plan of physical therapy care, and teaches within the therapeutic relationship.
Her devoted practices of connecting to body, spirit, and Mama Earth are supported by her ancestors, teachers, loved ones, colleagues, and the thousands of clients, students, and participants she has had the privilege to be with and work with. She is eternally grateful and blessed by these relationships, and by the ever-evolving relationship she cherishes through grounding within herself and co-creating with others.
